Remove the Products button
Since this invoice template is intent for motel business, it does not require the Products button. The steps to remove a button (implemented as an ActiveX button object) from the invoice template:
- Unprotect the Invoice worksheet. (How?)
- Switch to design mode. (How?)
- Click to select the button or object you want to remove.
- Hit DEL key on your keyboard.
- Exit design mode.
- Protect the Invoice worksheet.
- Save the invoice template by clicking Excel menu File -> Save in Excel 2000~2003, or by clicking Office button -> Save in Excel 2007, or by clicking File -> Save in Excel 2010.
TIP: Removing buttons can also be used as a technical tool to prevent a user of your invoicing system from accessing certain data. For example, if you have two employees and all of them have access to Excel Invoice Manager, but you want one of the employees can only create invoices without having the privilege to add/modify/delete customer and product data. In this case, you can delete the Customers and Products button from the template used by this employee.
Resize the Customers button
To make the buttons on the top of the invoice form look organized after removing the Products button, the Customers button has been resized to fill the space left by deleting the Products button. It is easy to do this in Excel, as detailed below.
- Unprotect the Invoice worksheet. (How?)
- Switch to design mode. (How?)
- Click to select the button or object you want to resize.
- Hove your mouse on the edge of the button or object until the mouse pointer changed to the "resize arrow".
- Push your left mouse button and drag your mouse to resize the button.
- Try the above two steps on each edge of the button, to make the button have the proper size.
- Once finished, exit design mode and protect the Invoice worksheet.
- Save the invoice template.
Custom fields
As detailed in Custom Invoice Fields - Overview and Custom Invoice Fields - Tutorial, the link between the frontend Excel invoice form and the backend database is created using the name of a custom field. For example, a custom field named CustFax in the database should be named oknCustFax on the invoice form - Excel Invoice Manager automatically maps oknCustFax to CustFax on loading data from database and saving data to database.
Here are the custom fields used by this Motel Invoice Template.
